HealthPoint uses the lung acupressure meridians for a broad range of respiratory disorders.
Many people who suffer from symptoms such as shortness of breath, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, or asthma, for example, may benefit greatly from receiving frequent HealthPoint acupressure treatments.
Studies conducted by the Journal of Advanced Nursing (2004) found that “…acupressure improves breathing, reduces anxiety, and increases the amount of activity people with lung problems can perform before they experience shortness of breath…”
There are many different types of respiratory disease, all of which have different underlying causes. However, one thing they have in common is that they all result essentially with some kind of partial blocking of the airway, limiting the amount of oxygen that is able to be absorbed through the lungs.Symptoms can include shortness of breath, chronic cough, and wheezing.
Further studies have shown that older people suffering from some form of COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and given a course of treatment with acupressure point techniques, were able to breathe easier, were less tired, and less anxious by the end of the treatment period.
The resulting follow-on period showed this group of people, compared to a group not given acupressure at all, were also significantly more active and had a higher amount of oxygen in their blood, suggesting better overall lung function.
Below are some examples of the types of respiratory diseases that HealthPoint may help to resolve:
