Arthritis & Gout

There are two main types of arthritis: Osteoarthritis, which is due to more generalised wear and tear of the joint, and Rheumatoid arthritis which is a form of arthritis where the joints have become inflamed. In general Osteoarthritic pain will respond faster to HealthPoint treatment than rheumatoid arthritis which needs many treatments.

Surprisingly, doctors still do not know what actually causes arthritis – but whatever the various schools of thought speculate on as to its cause, the one thing we are sure of is that the real problem is a malfunction of the normal healing function of the body, and it being no longer able to do the job of looking after the repair of the damage effectively.

What HealthPoint does is to stimulate this healing function and therefore help to repair the damage caused by the condition. The first thing that often happens is that you may get almost immediate pain relief. This seems to occur in many cases. Then, with continuing treatment, it is possible to get some regeneration of the damaged area.

Gout is a disorder in which the chemical processes of the body are upset, resulting in excess uric-acid salts collecting in various organs. Men between the ages of 20 and 60 are the most susceptible to gout. The condition rarely affects women. The symptoms are the sudden onset of severe pain, swelling and tenderness of the affected joints – for some reason the big toe joints are the most likely to be affected, but any joint (usually extremities) can be susceptible.

Will HealthPoint Cure My Arthritis & Gout?

HealthPoint is treating the damage caused by the problem – in addition to this, the conditions must also be treated with other measures, such as nutrition, herbal extracts, and supplements. However, from a patient’s point of view, the fact that many HealthPoint users are now completely free from all symptoms of their arthritis does suggest that the relief given by HealthPoint is very close to a cure.

M.E. (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis) Post Viral Syndrome

The 20th century seems to have spawned several ailments that have not been seen before. Originally labelled ‘Yuppie Flu’, ME (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), when broken down, the meaning of this sometimes confusing and misunderstood condition is easier to see…

My = muscle
Algic = pain
Encephalo = brain
Mye = spinal chord
Itis = inflammation

It is essentially an injury to the Central Nervous System, usually triggered by an infectious disease process, e.g. a virus, or by chemicals over stimulating the immune system.  Some researchers believe that M.E. is only ever caused by a virus.  Others have commented that the same symptoms can be caused by chemicals.

M.E. is a multi-system disease, affecting not only the neurological system, but also the immune, musculoskeletal, endocrine (hormonal) and cardiovascular systems.

M.E. has gradually become more widely researched and accepted as a genuine illness. Unfortunately, conventional methods of treatment are pretty ineffective.

HealthPoint has already established itself at the forefront of treatment regimes for ME. Pioneering work has been carried out at the Pilgrim Trust Hospital in Boston, Lincolnshire, UK, by Dr Derek Parkin. His department have been using HealthPoint for treating ME – along with existing methods – since 1994 and have now established it as the primary treatment for the illness. After the first few months of using HealthPoint, Dr Parkin wrote:

“I have been very impressed by the outcome with these patients, which seems to telescope the effects previously achieved by other therapies such as hypnosis and counseling, etc. The major features that the patients comment on are relief of pain, clearing of the head, recall of short-term memory, diminution in tinnitus/nausea, but most importantly, return of energy.

I was so excited by the outcome… that I recalled others on my list that would not have normally seen me for another couple of months – and had equally good success”.

Dr Parkin’s sucesses were also echoed by another medical doctor, Dr Andrew Midgley. He is a doctor who himself suffered ME for 20 years and then personally used HealthPoint to treat his own condition with great success – so much so that he now recommends HealthPoint in his new book “A Life Worth Living”. This book details his difficulties over the past 20 years and how he managing to overcome ME with the aid of HealthPoint and other strategies.

Dr Midgely says in his book “HealthPoint…has improved my energy levels and reduced my general tendency to allergic conditions. I use the appropriate points for ME, weariness, depression and insomnia and use it every morning – I can feel it increasing my energy levels. I would certainly recommend that you try it”.

Depression

Depression is a mood disorder, normally characterised by a very low mood and a wide range of other possible symptoms, which will vary from person to person.

These may include some, but not all of the following:

Feeling constantly weepy
Lethargy
A loss of interest in activities and things around you
Wanting to be alone
Constant tiredness and problems sleeping
Loss of appetite, or alternatively, excessive comfort eating
Stress and frustration
Irritability and aggression
A feeling that you cannot cope
An inability to be positive, and
Difficulties finding meaning to life.

Depression is an illness that can develop both quickly or gradually, and be brought on by life events and/or by more physical changes in body chemistry. It can strike anyone, but it is curable.

Some experts look upon depression as a defence mechanism that one’s body adopts in order to escape from unbearable stress.

In some cases, it could even be a form of anger directed towards the self for not having lived up to one’s expectations.

There are many potential explanations, but depression is a very individual illness, and there are therefore endless theories for its cause.

Such symptoms as exhaustion, sluggishness, anxiety, and despondency are all signs of a potential energy imbalance that has led to a full diagnosis of Depression.

HealthPoint can help to redress that balance by creating an avenue for your body to begin to relax, and reopen those blockages that have stemmed the natural flow your energy should take.

HealthPoint, especially if combined with deep breathing exercises, can equalise the changed chemistry in your body.

Deep breathing can open the respiratory system, clear repressed emotions, and thus release negativity, grief, emotional holding, frustration, and anger. HealthPoint can help you to find these blocked passageways and through just a few treatments, help to redress the balance.

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

When your blood pressure is measured, you are measuring the degree of force your heart is having to use against the walls of your arteries as it pumps blood throughout your body. Hypertension is another term used to describe this when the force is too high – high blood pressure.

Blood pressure readings are usually given as two numbers. Either one, or both of these numbers can be too high.

The top number is called the systolic blood pressure. The bottom number is called the diastolic blood pressure.

  • Normal blood pressure is when your blood pressure is lower than 120/80 mmHg most of the time.
  • High blood pressure (hypertension) is when your blood pressure is 140/90 mmHg or above most of the time.
  • If your blood pressure numbers are 120/80 or higher, but below 140/90, it is called pre-hypertension.
High blood pressure increases your risk of suffering from later heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease. It is especially dangerous because it often has no warning signs or symptoms.

HealthPoint to help treat high blood pressure:
Acupressure has become an accepted and effective way to treat hypertension, or high blood pressure.

HealthPoint may help you to both prevent and control high blood pressure, by making the mental or body system responsible for this increase in pressure more relaxed and ‘open’.

Using acupressure points can quickly adjust your blood pressure without the side effects of using medication and drugs.

There are many acupoints which can be treated to take control of hypertension, but it is suggested to start with two acupoints which are related to the release of tension and of depression (a major cause of hypertension).

HealthPoint must be used in conjunction with an appropriately improved diet, exercise regime, and relaxation.

Back Pain

Back pain is one of the greatest causes of chronic pain in the western world. 80% of people suffer from back pain in one form or another. It can be totally debilitating – not to mention excruciating. Thankfully, HealthPoint has proved to be highly effective in treating back problems.

Back pain can be caused in many different ways. However, because the HealthPoint unit simply stimulates the body’s own healing system, it is effective over a vast range of back-related causes.

Lower – Lumbar:
This is most commonly due to narrowed discs in the lower lumbar spine. Occasionally the cause can be a prolapsed inter vertebral disc and in these cases the pain often extends into the leg. If this does not respond satisfactorily to treatment a competent osteopathic, chiropractic or orthopaedic opinion should be sought. A very small proportion of these cases will require surgery and removal of the protruding disc. In all cases, however, it is essential to try conservative measures first. Electro-Acupuncture is successful at relieving chronic low back pain in many cases.

Middle – Thoracic:
Sometimes an injury is sustained to the middle of the spine. Many sportsmen and women suffer with facet joint problems (the small joints at the back of each vertebra). Electro-Acupuncture is an excellent method of treating this problem.

Neck Pain:
Neck pain can be general, through stiffness or tension, or can commonly be due to arthritis, sometimes called cervical spondylosis. A qualified osteopathic or chiropractic opinion is often helpful in the treatment of this problem. Electro-Acupuncture however, can be a highly effective method of treatment..

Coccyx – Painful – Coccydynia:
Pain in the coccyx (lowest segment of the spine) or surrounding area is usually caused by injury and either occurs when sitting or is made worse when sitting. This condition is more common in women, in whom the coccyx is less well protected.

Researchers in Taiwan did a study using 129 patients with chronic low back pain registered with a specialist orthopaedic clinic. 64 patients received six sessions of acupressure and 65 patients received physical therapy. Results were analysed immediately after treatment and again after six months.

The mean disability score after treatment was significantly lower in the acupressure group than in the physical therapy group. In fact acupressure alone produced an 89% reduction in disability compared with physical therapy, after adjusting for pre-treatment disability. This improvement lasted for six months. Benefit was also greater in the acupressure group for variables such as “leg pain,” “pain interferes with normal work,” and “days off from work/school.”

This study appears to show that acupressure is more effective in alleviating low back pain than physical therapy in terms of pain scores, functional status, and disability. The effect was not only seen in the short term, but lasted for six months or more. These results support the conclusion of previous studies. By using HealthPoint, therefore, you have a huge potential for reducing back pain of many types, and improving body function, all through self-treatment.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a common, inherited or acquired, potentially life-long health condition. There are 3.2 million people diagnosed with diabetes in the UK and an estimated 630,000 people who have the condition, but don’t know it.

What happens when you have diabetes?
Diabetes is a condition where the amount of glucose in your blood is too high because the body cannot use it properly.  This is because your pancreas doesn’t produce any insulin, or not enough insulin, to help glucose enter your body’s cells – or the insulin that is produced does not work properly (known as insulin resistance).

Insulin is the hormone produced by the pancreas that allows glucose to enter the body’s cells, where it is used as fuel for energy. It is vital for life. Glucose comes from digesting carbohydrate and is also produced naturally in the liver.

Diabetes develops when glucose cannot enter the body’s cells to be used as fuel. This happens when either there is no insulin to unlock the cells (Type 1), or there is not enough insulin, or the insulin is there but not working properly (Type 2).

Treatment of diabetes with acupressure is a little different. Unlike conventional medicine, which just uses the diagnosis of Type 1 and Type 2 classification to decide on a treatment regime, with acupressure, and by using HealthPoint, you are classifying this ailment based on the organs that are affected by it, not by its type.

The first set of symptoms, and hence organs effects, include drinking more than usual (digestive), fatigue and sleepiness especially after food (digestive). More specifically, these are symptoms associated with spleen weakness. So by using HealthPoint to reactivate the spleen, the pancreas also gets reactivated, and hence a more balanced insulin production.

The second set of symptoms can include excessive urination, leg pain, and loss of weight, which can all be due to bladder weakness. So reactivation of the bladder via your HealthPoint acupressure points, and the spleen points of course, can help to redress this malfunction.

Other points to note are those associated with skin problems and itching, which are associated in turn with lung weakness caused by diabetes. Body pain and sleepiness of a diabetic sufferer may be associated with liver weakness. Reduction in sex drive can be associated with the points of the spleen, kidneys, pituitary and pineal glands. And a burning sensation in the feet, leg pain and pins and needles sensations in the foot region, may mean that the digestive system, more the small intestine, may need reactivation.

Insomnia

Insomnia is a persistent disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep or both, despite the opportunity for adequate sleep. With insomnia, you usually awaken feeling unrefreshed, which takes a toll on your ability to function during the day.

Insomnia can sap not only your energy level and mood but also your health, work performance and quality of life. This is a problem suffered by thousands of people and, frustratingly, there is usually no apparent reason and so the medical profession tends to take a purely symptomatic approach – providing sleeping tablets – rather than getting to the root cause of the loss of sleep.

Many adults experience insomnia at some point, but some people have long-term (chronic) insomnia. Insomnia may be the primary problem, or it may be secondary due to other causes, such as a disease or medication.

How much sleep one person needs per night can vary from person to person. Most adults need seven to eight hours a night. But you don’t have to put up with sleepless nights. Simple changes in your daily habits, along with HealthPoint treatments, can help.

Common causes of insomnia include: stress; anxiety; depression; medical conditions such as respiratory conditions, chronic pain, digestive conditions, and Alzheimer’s disease; a change in your environment; general poor sleep habits; medications; caffeine, nicotine and alcohol; and eating too much late in the evening.

Insomnia also becomes more common with age. As you get older, you may tend to have a change in sleep patterns, or activity, or of course in your health that may cause this. Other sleep-related disorders, such as sleep apnea and restless legs syndrome, are also becoming more common.

Finally, more general use of prescription medications, which increases the chance of insomnia caused by a medication side effect.

Nearly everyone has an occasional sleepless night. But your risk of insomnia is greater if: you’re a woman, you are older than 60, you have a mental health disorder, or you are under a lot of stress.

Behavioural treatments can help to teach you new ways to improve your sleeping habits, such as relaxation techniques and light therapy.

Lifestyle treatments can make a massive improvement: correct exercise, medication changes, or weaning off your medications in favour of a more natural approach, and of course dietary changes and avoidance of stimulants.

Natural health approaches include things like Melatonin and Valerian, but more recently acupuncture and acupressure, as well as yoga and medication have played a very significant role in reducing the causes of insomnia, and hence the resultant condition.

HealthPoint can help to open relaxation points, and ‘open’ the points associated with many of the causes and symptoms that manifest this condition. Many people find that just a few treatments, even just one treatment, can result in a more relaxed approach to sleep patterns. This must always be combined with a better ‘life’ approach that begins with a healthy diet.

HealthPoint tackles the problem directly and can reduce a person’s dependence on sleep inducing drugs. There is really very little to add, other than the fact that it works!

Migraines & Headaches

For those who suffer from migraines, they can be the most debilitating ailment imaginable – to those who have never had one, they often wonder how a ‘headache’ can be a problem.

Migraines are not ‘just a headache’. A migraine is a chronic neurological disorder, characterized by recurrent moderate to severe headaches, often in association with a number of autonomic nervous system symptoms. Typically the headache affects one half of the head, is pulsating in nature, and lasting from 2 to 72 hours. Associated symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound.

Migraines have well defined stages – Premonitory, Main Attack, and Resolution. Most people experience more than one phase. Each phase can vary in length and severity.

In more detail, the stages are:

Premonitory stage – experiencing certain physical and mental changes such as tiredness, craving sweet foods, mood changes, feeling thirsty and a stiff neck. These feelings can last from 1 to 24 hours; Aura stage – lasting from 5 to 60 minutes. Symptoms may include visual disturbances such as flashing lights or sensory symptoms such as pins and needles;

Main attack stage – consisting of head pain and associated features which can typically last anything between 4 and 72 hours. The head pain is typically described as throbbing and one sided;

Resolution and recovery stage – where the migraine fades, although some may result in sudden vomiting. It is these stages and their symptoms which distinguish a migraine from a headache.

Migraines appear to respond very well to HealthPoint. By targeting specific meridians, along several acupressure points, HealthPoint can not only effectively reduce and remove the symptoms of a fully developed migraine, but if used regularly, for vulnerable people, HealthPoint can prevent them starting in the first place. Faced with an alternative to overpowering drugs – which are not always effective – migraine sufferers have found HealthPoint to be the ideal solution.

Colds & Flu

The average person will suffer from 2 to 4 colds per year, and children will get between 6 and 10 colds per year!

The common cold is probably the most common illness in the modern western world today. The cold, like the flu, is a virus and cannot be treated with antibiotics. Unfortunately, the only true treatment is to wait until it has run it’s course.

The flu (Influenza) is similar to the common cold, but the symptoms are usually much more severe. It can be very serious and even fatal for certain vulnerable people, such as the old and infirm.

Knowing the difference between the cold and flu can be tricky, but it doesn’t have to be. If you know what to look for, you can usually tell if you have a cold or a flu as soon as you notice their more specific symptoms.

The following chart may help you compare cold and flu symptoms….

Symptoms

Cold

Flu

Fever    Rare    Characteristic, high
Headache    Rare    Prominent
General Aches, Pains    Slight    Usual; often severe
Fatigue, Weakness    Quite mild    Can last two to three weeks
Extreme Exhaustion    Never    Early and prominent
Stuffy Nose    Common    Sometimes
Sneezing    Usual    Sometimes
Sore Throat   Common    Sometimes
Chest Discomfort,
Cough
   Mild    Common; can become severe

Because acupressure stimulates your body to expel the virus more quickly, it may seem at first that your cold is worsening when treating with HealthPoint, for example. But your body is simply progressing through the symptoms faster than usual, so this is a good indicator.

Although HealthPoint doesn’t claim to “cure” the common cold, working on certain points can help you to get better much faster, and increase your resistance to future strains of the cold and flu viruses.

Eczema

Eczema is a dry, itchy condition where the skin often becomes red and inflamed.

Eczema produces dry scales that break open, releasing a watery fluid. In Japan, there is an ancient belief that the skin reflects the condition of one’s internal organs. When the internal organs are fatigued, the effect appears on the skin immediately.

Atopic dermatitis (an inherited disease characterized by dry, itchy skin and often associated with other allergic conditions) is the most common form of eczema. However, there are several other forms of the disease. These include:

Allergic contact eczema
Contact eczema
Dyshidrotic eczema
Neurodermatitis
Nummular eczema
Seborrheic eczema, and
Stasis dermatitis.

Eczema and dermatitis conditions are often associated with respiratory imbalances and allergic disorders.

The spleen is a very important organ in the circulatory system that has alot to do with the treatment approaches. The action of using HealthPoint to stimulate this area, and others, is to enhance blood circulation to the lungs. This should initially be carried out twice daily.

For chronic skin disorders such as this, acupressure points are stimulated along the arms, legs, and torso.

In addition to using acupressure points two or three times daily, you can help resolve eczema by fortifying your system with traditional breathing exercises. Plus, via an improved diet you can eliminate all shellfish, especially shrimp, crab, and lobster, and try eating plenty of dandelion greens in salads. Also, making a tea out of the dandelion root, for instance, is also good for relieving eczema.

Asthma

Because HealthPoint is very often used for what one could would describe as ‘physical’ ailments such as arthritis or back-pain, many people seem to forget that it can be extremely effective in treating many other medical conditions.

As you will probably be aware, asthma is reaching epidemic proportions and has become one of the major illnesses effecting people today.

Medically speaking, the treatment is basically a cocktail of drugs – most of which have unpleasant (or worse) side-effects.

HealthPoint acts on the body’s immune system, enabling the asthma to be tackled ‘at source’ providing long-term relief without the harmful drugs.

In the UK, Dr Kenyon MD carried out a study on the effects of Electro-acupuncture on asthmatic patients – in particular, the long-term effects of such treatment.

The work was centered around the fact that there were several well documented medical trials on the use of acupuncture in athsma with excellent short-term outcomes as measured by Peak Flow Meters, but with poor long-term results. He felt that it would be sensible for treatment to be given on a regular twice-daily basis, by the patients themselves using the electronic unit – something that is prohibitively expensive and inconvenient with traditional methods.

The results showed that two-thirds of the patients were able to significantly reduce their inhaled steroid dose by over half after just one month of treatment.

These results were obtained using a pre-production version of HealthPoint – the production version has been shown to produce measurably better results in direct comparisons.

Constipation & Diarrhoea

There are some great approaches for treating constipation and diarrhoea naturally. Treatment can depend greatly on the reason for the bowel changes.

In general, for constipation, increasing fluids is important and trying to be more active can help.

Sometimes increasing fibre is essential, if you are not sensitive to the grains. But also be aware that fibre intake may need to be increased slowly to avoid bloating and discomfort.

Sometimes old remedies are the best, such as prunes, or prune juice. Additionally warm or hot beverages can be helpful for stimulating bowel movements.

For diarrhea, staying hydrated is of paramount importance.Evaluating the cause of the diarrhoea is key, in case there could be an infection responsible for the bowel changes that needs to be addresses right away.

When infection has been ruled out, some of the helpful tips involve increasing soluble fibre, which is present in oats and bananas, for example. Soluble fibre supplements may be helpful as well. Yogurt or other fermented dairy products may be helpful.

Typically people will need to take 1-2 per day over a course of a week or two. Seeing a dietitian for a diet review may be a good place to start if diarrhoea has been a long-term issue.

HealthPoint can be of great assistance alongside diet and lifestyle changes to combat the discomfort and persistence these conditions can bring.

There are acu-points and energy channels associated with the functioning of our digestive/elimination system that HealthPoint can accurately pinpoint. This could be of huge assistance, quite quickly, by regulating your system.
